Mass Effect [#2] | 09.09.2025 Stream

Game: Mass Effect (Mass Effect Legacy Collection) | EA App on PC
Air Date: 09.09.2025

Here’s a full rundown of what happens in the edition:
Introduction (1:30-3:14): Slash is continuing a playthrough he started last week at the request of a viewer. He mentions he’s never played the game before and notes some differences between the PC version he’s playing and the PlayStation 4/5 version, particularly regarding the convoluted menu system on PC. He also expresses his dislike for the Xbox controller, hinting at a possible switch to the PlayStation version if it hinders his gameplay.
Meeting with the Council and Sarin’s accusations (3:14-5:55): Commander Shepherd is in a hearing with the Citadel Council, where Sarin, a Turian Spectre, denies treason charges and accuses Shepherd of failing the mission on Eden Prime. Sarin expresses his disdain for humanity. The Council ultimately finds no evidence against Sarin and denies the petition to strip him of his Spectre status.
Post-Council discussion and next steps (5:55-8:00): After the hearing, Captain Anderson and Ambassador Udina discuss Sarin’s involvement with the Geth and the threat he poses to humanity. Captain Anderson reveals his past history with Sarin, mentioning a mission that “went bad.” They decide they need to find a way to expose Sarin and plan to seek out Garris, an SEC investigator who was close to finding something on Sarin. They decide to use Harkin, a contact of Captain Anderson, to track Garris down, but Ambassador Udina expresses distrust in Harkin due to his drinking problem. Shepherd is tasked with handling this part of the investigation.
Navigating the Citadel and character interactions (8:00-13:09): Shepherd navigates the Citadel, expressing frustration with the game’s map system and camera angles. He visits a shop and purchases a new pistol, attempting to understand the game’s comparison system for weapons.
Encountering Harkin at Cora’s Den (13:09-20:20): Shepherd makes his way to Cora’s Den, a “dingy little club.” On the way, he encounters a shooting incident. Inside the bar, he finds Harkin, who is drunk. Harkin reveals that Captain Anderson was previously a Spectre but was kicked out after a mission with Sarin went wrong. Harkin tells Shepherd that Garris was last seen at Dr. Michelle’s med clinic.
Saving Dr. Michelle and learning about the Quarian (20:20-27:46): Shepherd proceeds to Dr. Michelle’s clinic, where he finds her being threatened by thugs working for Fist. Shepherd intervenes and saves Dr. Michelle. She reveals that Fist was trying to silence her because she was in contact with a Quarian who had information about Sarin and the Geth. This Quarian was seeking refuge with the Shadow Broker, and Dr. Michelle put her in touch with Fist, who has now betrayed the Shadow Broker and is working for Sarin. Garris joins Shepherd to confront Fist.
Confronting Fist and obtaining the memory core (27:46-45:30): Shepherd and Garris go to confront Fist. The streamer struggles with the combat and dies once, forcing a replay of a section. They eventually defeat Fist and his turrets. Fist reveals that the Quarian he was supposed to meet is not at his location and that Sarin’s men are waiting for her at a meeting in a back alley by the markets.
Rescuing Tali and uncovering the truth about the Reapers (45:30-54:58): Shepherd and Garris rush to the alley and find the Quarian, Tali’Zorah, under attack by Sarin’s men. They save her. Tali explains her pilgrimage and how she obtained a Geth memory core. The memory core contains audio recordings of Sarin discussing Eden Prime and the “conduit,” and another voice mentioning “Reapers,” a machine race that existed 50,000 years ago and destroyed the Protheans. This revelation links Sarin to the Reapers and confirms the vision Shepherd had on Eden Prime. Tali asks to join Shepherd’s party, and despite the streamer’s initial desire to deny her, she is eventually added to the squad.
Side Quest: Nurali Batia’s Body (54:58-1:05:17): Shepherd is approached by a man named Mr. Batia, whose wife, a marine, died on Eden Prime. Mr. Batia wants his wife’s body released for a proper funeral, but the military is holding it for “tests.” Shepherd investigates and learns that the military is studying her injuries to understand Geth weaponry, and the body will be held for a year or longer. Slash’s character responds with varying degrees of empathy and assertiveness to Mr. Batia and the military official.
